ACCELERATED REHABILITATIVE DISPOSITION (ARD) INFORMATION REGARDING THE PAYMENT OF COSTS/LICENSE SUSPENSION
Payment Information
Upon entry into the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition (ARD) program, you will be assessed court fines/costs and perhaps restitution.  Upon paying the forthwith amount as ordered by the court on your hearing day, you will be mailed a payment plan for the remaining costs within one week.  This is the only notice you will receive unless you become delinquent.  No interest is charged if you comply with the payment plan.  Please note that you may pay the entire balance at any time.  The $30.00 per month supervision fee is included in your payment plan.

All payments should be mailed to the Clerk of Courts Office, PO Box 311 Norristown, PA 19404 Attn: Fines and Costs.  Please make sure that your name and case number are on your payment.

Personal checks are not accepted.  Please send a cashier’s check, certified personal check or money order.  If you choose to pay in person, the office is open Monday – Friday 8:30 AM to 4:15 PM except holidays.  We also accept cash or credit cards (Visa, Discover, Master Card) at our cashier’s window in the office.

Please be aware of the fact that if you fail to comply with the payment plan, your account will be submitted to a collection agency and a 25% service fee will be added to your bill.  You can also be removed from the ARD program and brought to trial on the same charges.

If the balance owed after the forthwith payment is made, exceeds $1000.00, a judgment will entered against you in the Montgomery County Prothonotary’s Office.  This judgment will remain in force until monies are paid in full.  In order to satisfy the judgment, you will need validation from the Clerk of Courts Office and then file the appropriate paperwork and fee with the Prothonotary’s Office to satisfy the judgment.
License Suspension Information (If applicable)
If you need to surrender your license as a condition of your ARD, it is given to the Clerk of Courts Office to send to PennDot.  Credit is calculated from the date of the license surrender to the Clerk of Courts. You must surrender all license products you have in your possession in order to get credit for the suspension (i.e. duplicate licenses, permits, motorcycle licenses, etc.)  Near the completion of your suspension, you will receive a restoration letter from PennDot.  They will notify you of the requirements you need to fulfill in order to obtain your license.  Generally, a restoration fee (approximately $25.00) and proof of insurance needs to be sent to PennDot.  Their letter will outline the requirements.
